Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffMarch 28, 2021Spotify Music for Android brings the latest and greatest songs and albums to your Android device.Pros Music on-demand: Spotify enables you to specify which artist, album, or song you want to hear when you want to hear it.Exciting playlists: Between Discover Weekly, delivering a mix of old, new, and new-to-you tracks; #ThrowbackThursday, which compiles a throwback playlist based on a previous decade, year, genre, or theme; Your Release Radar, which brings the best new songs from artists we listen to most; New Music Friday, which introduces listeners to the hottest new tracks; and Daily Mixes, which takes the songs we can't get enough of and constructs playlists around them, there's always something to revisit or uncover on Spotify. You can also enjoy Spotify playlists based on genre or mood, or easily create your own.Recommendations: On Spotify's home page, the music-streaming app serves generalized playlist recommendations based on mood, genre, and release date. Tap Browse on the bottom rail, then the Discover tab to view albums and playlists you're sure to enjoy based on your recent listening habits.Radio: If you miss the old-school Internet jukebox experience, just tap the Radio button on the bottom rail and play stations based on your recently played music and artists or myriad genres and decades.Easy-to-navigate interface: Whether you're on your Android phone or tablet, it's easy to get where you need to go quickly. The Home screen is full of playlists that are similar to playlists you've recently listened to, ones that are designed for you, and others based on genre and mood. Tap Browse on the bottom rail to search by chart placement, new releases, videos, who's coming to town, podcasts, and more. Tap the adjacent Search button to do a keyword search for what you're looking for. Radio takes you to radio stations including Your Daily Mix, and Your Library takes you to recently played and downloaded songs.Easy sharing: With a tap, you can share your favorite track or album or playlist with others over chat, email, or social media.Concerts: Never miss another concert again, because Spotify notifies you when your favorite artist is coming to town on their artist page or under the Concerts tab.Podcasts: Tap the Podcasts tab and find podcasts you've already followed or browse to find new ones. Featured Podcasts are up top or you can search by category.Spotify-Hulu bundle: Spotify Premium members can now get the premium music streaming service ($9.99 to 12.99 per month) and Hulu's Limited Commercials plan ($7.99 per month) for a discounted bundle rate of $12.99.Cons Premium membership required: For $9.99 per month (new users), $12.99 (existing users), and $4.99 (students), you can enjoy an ad-free experience, the ability to play any song, download music for offline listening (great when you're out of Wi-Fi range), and high-definition sound quality. Without these features, on a basic Spotify plan, the app quickly loses its luster.Hard to find friends if you're not on Facebook: One of the hardest things to do on Spotify is finding friends if you're not connected to Facebook. If you are, you can just tap My Library on the bottom rail, then tap the profile picture icon. Then tap Find Friends, and once they're located, tap Follow. If you're not on Facebook, however, you can try searching for their name in the search field, which often doesn't come up with any results, or you can ask them to share their account with you.Bottom Line Go Premium with Spotify and enjoy the most exciting music streaming service out there today.
