Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffNovember 10, 2018DoorDash's restaurant delivery app for Android boasts the widest selection of both local eateries and national chains, with over 110,000 restaurant menus across 800-plus cities, across the U.S. and Canada.ProsEasy to start up: Register with Facebook or with your first name, last name, email address, phone number, and password. Then input your physical address, and any special instructions, such as where to park.Great UI: Launch DoorDash's default food page and you'll be greeted with a great UI that's easy to navigate and beautiful to look at. Up top, you'll see the address field, which you can input and save common delivery addresses, such as Home and Work locations. Underneath you'll find 30 swipeable cuisine buttons to help narrow your search. Below that, you'll find curated collections of restaurants, such as Featured Partners, Try Me Free, and Free Delivery, boasting mouthwatering food photos. Scroll down further to check out all partnering restaurants in your area.30 different cuisines: You can select one of 30 cuisines from the home page or the Search page, which you can get to by tapping the magnifying glass on the bottom rail. Your options, in alphabetical order, include Alcohol, American, Asian, Barbecue, Breakfast, Bubble Tea, Burgers, Chinese, Comfort Food, Desserts, Dim Sum, Fast Food, Hawaiian, Indian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Late Night, Mediterranean, Mexican, Pasta, Ramen, Salad, Sandwiches, Soup, Sushi, Thai, Vegan, Vegetarian, and Vietnamese.Great variety: There is something on DoorDash for every price point, from fast food favorites like Burger King, Jack in the Box, and McDonald's to well-known chain restaurants such as Buca di Beppo, California Pizza Kitchen, and P.F. Chang's, to the hippest local restaurants. DoorDash says that it's always adding new restaurants, so if you search for a restaurant that DoorDash has not yet partnered with, DoorDash will let you request it and promises to notify you if and when it's added to its roster of restaurants.Different ways to search: You can browse by curated collections, cuisine, or keyword.Powerful filters: Tap Filter on the top right to sort search results by Top Rated, Lowest Delivery Fee, Fastest Delivery, or Most Popular. You can also sort by Menu Prices: from one to three dollar signs or Additional Filters, such as Has vegetarian options. Then hit Apply.Robust restaurant info: In search results, for each restaurant, you'll see a gorgeous photo and get vital info, such as the name, type of cuisine, star rating and review number, delivery time, and any delivery specials. Tap the restaurant and see a swipeable carousel of popular items to choose from with a full menu underneath.Drinks, too: Tap the Drinks button on the bottom rail to get beer, wine, spirit, and mixer delivery from corner, national, and boutique liquor stores. Some of these establishments also offer food delivery -- mostly snacks.Easy ordering process: Tap any items to add them to your order. When you're done, tap the View Cart button, and if everything looks good, tap the Checkout button. Add a tip, select your payment info, whether you want to pay by card or Apple Pay, and then tap Place Order. No order minimums: Unlike competing services that force order minimums for delivery, DoorDash does not, so you aren't forced to order more than you need to.Free delivery offer: DoorDash regularly offers free delivery for first-time customers (no coupon code required).Accurate delivery time estimation: After ordering, DoorDash shows you when your order is expected to arrive. This is determined based on a number of factors, including food quality, prep times, traffic, and weather. In testing, DoorDash exceeded expectations as far as delivery speed.Quick reordering: Tap the Orders button on the bottom rail to review and reorder your past favorites.Available in 800+ cities in the U.S. and Canada: DoorDash serves most major cities and markets in the U.S. and Canada, including Atlanta, Austin, Bellevue, Boston, Brooklyn, Charlotte, Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Fort Worth, Houston, Indianapolis, Irvine, Los Angeles, Manhattan, Minneapolis, Nashville, New York, Orange County, Pasadena, Palo Alto, Peninsula, Phoenix, Sacramento, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, Silicon Valley, Washington D.C., Toronto, and Vancouver.ConsFew fancy restaurants: In testing, we couldn't find many fancy restaurants on DoorDash. If you're looking for more premium eateries, we'd recommend Caviar.Pricey delivery fees: When ordering from DoorDash, it's possible that you'll pay a delivery fee, a service fee, and even surge pricing, during busy times. When you factor in an additional tip, this can make getting in your car and picking up your order seem like a better value proposition.Bottom LineIf you're looking for a restaurant delivery app that offers a wide variety of casual fare and drinks, you'll find what you're looking for on DoorDash. However, beware of DoorDash's sometimes pricey delivery fees.
