The staff was composed of a washerwoman, a cook, a lady who washed the dishes and a janitor, because the other tasks were done by my dad as a receptionist, in books he recorded income, expenses, room charges, maintenance, purchases, etc.In the mid-1960s, the central market of Quetzaltenango located in front of the Central America park, was devastated by a raging fire, destroying structures and businesses in its entirety. The municipality, urged to accommodate all the victims, needed resources, then put up for sale the building that we rented, this is how it has its own place. With the plans of the engineer Jos Luis Buscayrol and the financing of the Bank of the West the construction of a modern hotel begins, work that was finished on September 1, 1949, had fifteen rooms with private bathroom, a patio with many flowers, a small bar, restaurant for fifty-two chairs, event room with the name "La Fuente" and an imposing facade towards the Central America park.In addition, on different occasions from the mid-sixties to 1990, a total of three neighboring houses were purchased on the eleven avenue and alley of the Montepos. In these, a total of forty-three new rooms were built, which allowed a better supply position in the face of the demand for international tourism that was already felt. This is how the Pension currently has seventy-five rooms in total.Quetzaltenango, July 2014.
