Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffMay 19, 2010With Documents to Go for Android you can create and edit MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents as well as view PDFs available on your device. But to be able to use documents from cloud services or sync files with your computer, you have to pay. This is a useful but at times clumsy app.ProsConvenient mobile text editor: Documents to Go for Android preserves the original format of a document and enables you to effortlessly zoom in or out and make small changes. Changing the formatting, inserting Hyperlinks, Tablets, or Comments, or checking the Word Count is also possible, though you have to do a lot of tapping.Easy navigation: The appealing, blue-and-white main window uses colorful document icons for each supported format (all MS Office files from 1997 to date) and gives you the option to view only one file type at a time. The integrated file explorer allows you to open documents on your device without too much hassle.Handles sheets well: Viewing and even editing sheets is easy with this app. Even when the sheet is large, the scrolling and zooming in or out prove smooth and responsive.ConsPestering ads: The banner at the bottom of the screen isn't that much of a problem, but the fullscreen ads that pop up constantly will distract you from your work.Clunky editing interface: It seems the developers have been updating only the main window of the app, leaving the viewing and editing mode feeling somewhat outdated with its grayscale buttons. What's more, the editing features are hidden behind a pull-down menu, which you have to tap on constantly to do your work.Desktop Sync requires USB: Although it's a premium feature, Desktop Sync cannot be done via Wi-Fi.Bottom LineIf you work with MS Office documents on a daily basis, Documents to Go for Android can help you view them and perform basic edits, but don't expect it to be as accessible as a desktop office suite. Though far from perfect, it proves to be practical and accessible.
