Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffFebruary 29, 2024With this update of the humorous 1995 Amiga classic Timekeepers, Vulcan Software proves that some of those old-school games really were as good as people remember. You command a platoon of Timekeepers, blundering soldiers who march aimlessly back and forth across the 2D landscape. The system for controlling them is the game's most distinctive feature. To give a command, you place a symbol for the instruction on the ground. When a Timekeeper steps on the command, he executes it. By laying out combinations of commands, you can make your Timekeepers change direction, jump obstacles, attack enemies, or operate machinery. It may sound simple, but it's not. Lava streams and dreadful enemies await everywhere. The graphics are a bit raw by modern standards, but that hardly detracts from the game's appeal. The 15 levels of the demo world will keep fans of puzzle and strategy games happily occupied for hours.
