We were dismayed to find Astonia 3 does not let you register your character in the client; instead, you must visit the publisher's site to obtain an e-mail that contains your username and password. Although the process takes time, we can't complain about the free one-month trial. We also appreciated the ability to change the screen resolution and graphic detail to ensure smooth gameplay. Once you begin the game, you must immediately choose from a multitude of missions. You'll find plenty of help options, but if you're still stuck, you can ask more experienced gamers for help via the chat box. You also can use this option to organize a group of players to undertake more difficult quests. You increase your character's power by completing quests and killing opponents, but we missed the ability to run. Although transporters are stationed throughout the game, they're only reachable by foot, and your character walks at a leisurely pace. Overall, Astonia 3 doesn't have many original features, but role-playing aficionados will find it worth a try.
